Destiny's Child alum LeToya Luckett is set to play R&B and pop music legend Dionne Warwick in an upcoming biopic, Warwick announced it during the Cannes Festival on last Friday. Olympia Dukakis will play Marlene Dietrich, who was Warwick's mentor at the start of her career. Dany Glover will play Warwick's father, Mansel Warwick.

AMBI Pictures, the L.A.-based production outfit set up by Italian producer Andrea Iervolino and Bacardi drinks heiress Monika Bacardi, will produce the film and handle international sales, shopping the project to buyers in Cannes.
Earlier on Friday, Lady Gaga denied she was cast as the late British star Cilla Black, who passed away last year from a stroke at the age of 72. 'Lady Gaga is not attached and will not appear in this project. Reports of Gaga starring in this project are false,' a spokesperson for the Bad Romance singer told JustJared.com.

Diane Warwick herself had held a press event on Friday at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday to announce plans for an upcoming biopic based on her 2010 autobiography My Life, As I See It: An Autobiography.
'The biopic, titled Dionne, will centre on Warwick´s early years in the business, from 1962 to 1968, and will focus on her rivalry with Cilla Black, who topped UK charts in 1964 with a cover of Anyone Who Had a Heart, a song originally written for Warwick. 'She stole my music, and I was not a very happy camper about that,' Warwick said of Black during the press conference. 'Over the years, we grew up and understood each other. It all got cleared'....Warwick firmly stressed, however, that Black will not be treated as a 'villainess in the picture.' It was revealed by the producers that Black´s family were not informed of the making of Dionne before Thursday´s announcement.' (The Guardian)
'It's not scary at all. I took the first step by writing a book. And the film will be loosely based on my book ('My Life As I See It: An Autobiography'). It's nice to be able to share and people have been asking, 'Well, what about this and what about that?' So now they'll get a chance to know 'what about.'' said Dionne Warwick. The entertainer has sold more than 100 million records, according to her official bio.
