Veteran playwright and actor David Roby announces the national tour of his one-man-show inspired by the writings, life and legacy of Tennessee Williams. The One Man Traveling Tennessee Williams Festival will feature various Tennessee Williams related plays focusing prominently on Roby's most accomplished work 'sometimes there's God so quickly', a one-man tour de force in which Roby plays 19 different characters, all of which he stumbled upon during interviews he conducted during his tenure as The Tennessee Williams Playwright-in-Residence at Sewanee: The University of the South.
The play serves as a dramatic unfolding as Roby discovers a hidden metaphor in Tennessee Williams' 'A Streetcar Named Desire' as the individuals he meets along the way help solidify and defend his thesis. The characters include Tennesse Williams' last personal assistant, one of Williams' most beloved cousins, his former Key West exterminator, a couple of actresses, a few scholars, personal friends and quite possibly the oldest surviving audience member to see Williams' very first produced play Cairo! Shanghai! Bombay!
Part comedy, part drama, part mystery, part journalism, 'sometimes there's God so quickly' investigates one playwright's obsession with another playwright's obsession. In anticipation of his tour, Roby will present a special copyright-free podcast presentation on iTunes.

Considered one of the leading interpreters of Williams' work, Roby recently received rave reviews for his portrayal of Brick in 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' at Seacoast Repertory Theatre in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
