UK teen arrested on suspicion of preparing to join ISIS in Syria - police

USPA News - An 18-year-old man from Birmingham in England has been arrested on suspicion of preparing to travel to Syria in an attempt to join the Islamic State (ISIS) group, police say. He was arrested at his home at 7 a.m. local time this morning.
A statement from West Midlands Police is copied below. STARTS Birmingham teenager arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences An 18-year-old man from Hodge Hill, Birmingham has been arrested on suspicion of preparing to travel to Syria to join the Islamic state. He was detained at approximately 7am this morning (16 March) by officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit. The operation was pre-planned and intelligence led. There was no immediate threat to public safety. The man was arrested at his home address on suspicion of preparing for terrorist acts, contrary to Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. ENDS.
