Third victim in Washington state high school shooting dies

USPA News - A teenage girl who was injured when a freshman opened fire at a Washington state high school last week has died of her injuries, bringing the number of people killed, including the gunman, to four, officials said on Friday, making it the country`s worst school shooting in nearly two years. Shaylee "Shay" Chuckulnaskit, 14, died at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett at 4:45 p.m. local time on Friday, hospital officials said.
She was among five people who were shot when 15-year-old freshman student Jaylen Fryberg opened fire in the cafeteria of Marysville Pilchuck High School in Marysville, located northeast of Seattle. Fryberg then killed himself. "Our hearts are broken at the passing of our beautiful daughter. Shay means everything to us," her parents said in a statement. "In Shay`s short life she has been a radiant light bringing us incredible joy and happiness. She has been a loving daughter, a caring sister, a devoted friend and a wonderful part of our community. We can`t imagine life without her." Shay`s parents added: "We have been overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness and support of our family, friends and community. We are deeply grateful for all the acts of kindness that have come our way. We especially want to thank the medics and Providence staff who have cared for Shay." Fryberg and 14-year-old Zoe Galasso were killed on the day of the shooting, while 14-year-old Gia Soriano died from critical head injuries last Sunday. Shay`s death raises the death toll from the shooting to four and makes it the worst school shooting in the United States since Adam Lanza opened fire at an elementary school in Connecticut in December 2012, killing 20 children and six adults before turning the gun on himself.
