USPA NEWS - WestJet just upped its presence in Nova Scotia with four new non-stop summer routes from Halifax Stanfield International Airport. The airline is calling Halifax their "Atlantic gateway to Europe."

Listed below are the new routes being added as of May, 2026: Halifax to Madrid: 4 weekly flights commencing May 15th, Halifax to Lisbon: 4 weekly flights starting May 1st, Halifax to Copenhagen: 4 weekly flights starting May 28th, and Halifax to Detroit: 7 weekly flights commencing May 18th. Other non-stop routes from Halifax (operated by WestJet and other airlines): European routes include: Dublin, London (Heathrow and Gatwick), Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Reykjavik, Frankfurt, Zurich, and Saint Pierre. Routes to the United States: Boston, New York (LaGuardia and Newark), Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Tampa, Orlando, snd Fort Lauderdale.
Transport Canada has owned the airport since its opening in 1960, with the Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) assuming operational responsibility in 2000. As a key component of the National Airports System, Halifax Stanfield was designated an international airport by Transport Canada, ranking 8th in Canada for passenger traffic and serving 3,979,785 passengers in 2024.
