USPA NEWS - Over the past weekend, Sauber´s test driver Simona De Silvestro completed her first two days of testing in a a two year old Sauber C31 on Ferrari´s test track in Fiorano. Over the course of the weekend De Silvestro completed 180 laps, totalling 540 kilometers of testing.
Over the past weekend, Sauber´s test driver Simona De Silvestro completed her first two days of testing in a a two year old Sauber C31 on Ferrari´s test track in Fiorano. Over the course of the weekend De Silvestro completed 180 laps, totalling 540 kilometers of testing. The vehicle was without KERS and featured special tyres from Pirelli. “After completing the installation lap, I realised that this was my first lap in a Formula One car, and that this was something really special,“ said De Silvestro following her first day of testing. “What impressed me most was the downforce of the car and the braking,“ she added. Paul Russel, test engineer for Sauber was pleased with the outcome of the first day of testing. “It was immediately clear that she is an experienced driver. It was as good a start in a Formula One car as you could hope for, and you couldn´t really ask for more today,“ said Russell. The test team made some changes to the set-up of the car for the second session, which gave her the opportunity get a feeling for those changes and learn how the F1 vehicle would react to the changes. “I can say that I already feel confident in the car, which is very positive,“ said De Silvestro after her test weekend. “I´m quite happy with what I was able to achieve over the two days.“ Simona´s next test in the Sauber C31 will take place from 25th June to 27th June in Valencia.
