USPA NEWS - The San Fermín festivities in Pamplona put an end to their Encierros this Thursday, with bulls from the prestigious Sevillian ranch Miura as protagonists. They did not show their usual dangerousness and the race was fast, with only one injured by a bull's horn.
It was the second fastest Encierro this year, lasting just 2.16 minutes. According to the Red Cross of Navarra, there were only four transfers to the hospital for bruises - two cranial and two in the arm -, while the one injured by a bull's horn was treated in the infirmary of the bullring. None is serious. And it is that the Encierro ran without great dangers, without the crowds of other days or the massive falls of runners. Calm end to the Encierros, that are the main international letter of introduction of the Pamplona Sanfermines.
The festivities end this Thursday, the day on which Pamplonese and visitors sing "Pobre de mí!" ("Poor me, the San Fermín festivities are over") and conspire to celebrate them again next year. That will be in the afternoon. Until then, there is time to enjoy the last aperitif, the last group meals, the latest attractions and the latest musical performances.
This year, the end of the festivities oscillates between sorrow and the hope that they will never have to be suspended again. Neither in 2020 nor in 2021 were they celebrated due to the pandemic, and this year the desire to party was palpable in the street. When the Sun sets tonight, the people of Pamplona will sleep satisfied because they have recovered their festivities, they have celebrated them in all their splendor and they will already be thinking about next year's Sanfermines.
